Let’s go.

Danny and I woke up in our adorable Airbnb fully underprepared for the extremely long trek we had planned for the day:

The trek to ATX from West Texas.

We had planned a 6.5 hr drive through the small towns of central west Texas.

We checked in at Marfa, then hit the road east towards the capital.

We knew the trip would be a long one so we planned to drive in shifts. Jack drove the first 200 miles, then Danny took over the rest.

West Texas is home to many small towns with one downtown area that comprises of a few city blocks. Some cuter and more inviting while others only have a single public business to host outsiders. (Tip: don’t stop for coffee in Sheffield TX).

This drive is where Danny saw his first dust devil, and Taco accumulated dirt inside his furry paws till he became one.

Beyond the wildly low gas prices and extremely beautiful desert, there wasn’t much to remark upon as we drove from about 6.5 hours.

We were destroyed by the time we got to ATX. Our Air Bnb was close to downtown so we knew we would be able to grab foid quickly before trekking to Houston.

In the morning Jack introduced Danny to the fine fine world of TX brisket. We visited Terry Blacks to start him off right.

We then checked in at the capital, then headed back to the homeland of HTX.
